Teshyla Bailey
(She/Her/Hers)
Teshyla Bailey is a dedicated and compassionate professional with a robust educational background and years of experience in the community development sector. Holding a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto, she has devoted this next stage of her career to supporting others navigating life’s challenges through individual and group counselling. Her journey stems from her experience as a Community Builder and trauma survivor providing support and guidance for young people coping with complex experiences. Having witnessed firsthand the transformative power of psychotherapy, despite the stigmas surrounding it from her Caribbean upbringing, she was inspired to pursue this path and facilitate positive change in the lives of others. Teshyla’s therapeutic modalities include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, narrative practices, and trauma-informed care. Her diverse skill set allows her to tailor her approach to meet the unique needs of each client, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for growth and self-discovery. Her areas of focus are anxiety, depression and low mood, and relationship/familial post-traumatic stress. For her, a great therapeutic relationship is built on trust, authenticity and collaboration. Teshyla believes in creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, and validated – a space where they can explore their thoughts and emotions without judgment.

I provide thoughtful, supportive therapy for individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, life and career transitions, and emotional overwhelm. My work is grounded, collaborative, and paced to support both emotional safety and meaningful progress.
Many of my clients are managing multiple roles, identities, or expectations—sometimes feeling capable on the outside while feeling stuck or exhausted internally. In our work together, we focus on understanding patterns, strengthening coping skills, and finding clarity around what you need right now.
My approach balances warmth with structure. I aim to create a space where you feel heard and respected, while also offering gentle guidance, reflection, and practical strategies when helpful. Therapy is not about fixing you, but about supporting you in making sense of your experiences and moving forward in ways that feel sustainable.
My background as a first-generation immigrant informs my sensitivity to cultural identity, transition, and belonging. I work with care, curiosity, and respect for each client’s lived experience and capacity for growth.
Please note: I do not typically offer same-day appointments unless discussed and agreed upon in advance.
If you experience any issues with booking or accessing your session, please feel free to email me at shutinghearttoarttherapy@gmail.com , and I’ll be happy to assist.
To ensure you receive important updates (such as session links), please check both your inbox and spam folder, and make sure your client account is set up in the Jane App portal.
Thank you for helping keep the process smooth—I look forward to connecting with you.

What does it mean to actively choose for myself? Who am I in relation to the world around me?
How have my experiences affected my present-day life?
I am a Master level registered Clinical Social Worker with experience working with folks navigating a variety of mental health concerns and substance misuse concerns. Through my experiences, I have developed a solid foundation in a strengths-based, anti-oppressive, feminist approach that views the client as the expert in their healing journey and positions them as resilient and resourceful.
A client-centred approach is a key component of my practice as I believe each client’s journey is composed of a unique set of needs. My compassionate and empathetic nature allows me to build empowering interpersonal relationships with clients; this foundation of trust allows me to truly work alongside clients.
In addition, I have a specific interest in supporting Black-identifying individuals, based on my own experience navigating spaces I understand how rare it is to encounter individuals in the mental health space who look like and share similar experiences. By providing client centered culturally safe support I can pursue my passion for fostering safe spaces for individuals who don’t see themselves reflected in support services around them and who often find themselves on the margins of conversation. I recognise the privilege it is to support you in your storytelling. By creating a collaborative, non- judgemental and affirming environment, we will position you as the author of your own story as we work on building your toolbox of skills and strategies to navigate everyday life and overall become an active participant in your life.
I look forward to taking this journey with you.
